History in the Northeastern Highlands

The North Jersey Highlands Historical Society (NJHHS), founded in 1958, is dedicated to collecting and communicating the history of the Northeastern Highlands Region from prehistoric Native American to the present. We have a special interest in historic ironmaking and the history associated with the Ringwood Manor State Park, the industries, events, and people.

Monthly Meeting:

Our monthly meeting is the last Wednesday of every month (except December) at 7:00 PM unless otherwise noted on our "Announcements" page. The November meeting (held on the third Wednesday) is an Annual Show & Tell, similar to the Antiques Roadshow, but without appraisal - bring your objects and share them. Unless otherwise indicated, meetings are held at the Long Pond Ironworks Visitor's Center, Greenwood Lake Turnpike (Passaic County Rt. 511), Hewitt, NJ.
